The Appellate Division of the Supreme Court has upheld a High Court order directing Green Line Paribahan to pay Tk50 lakh in compensation to Rasel Sarkar, who lost his leg in an accident in Dhaka’s Dholaipar area on April 28 last year.
A four-member bench led by Chief Justice Syed Mahmud Hossain passed the order on Sunday after hearing an appeal filed by Green Line.
The court also ordered the respondent to pay the compensation to the victim by April 3.
Earlier on March 12, the High Court ordered Green Line to pay compensation to Rasel Sarkar within 14 days.
On May 14 last year, the High Court issued a rule asking why private car driver Rasel, 23, should not get Tk1 crore as compensation.

Green Line was asked to respond to the rule within four weeks.
On April 28 that year, a luxury Green Line coach had rear-ended the car Rasel was driving from behind on the slope of Mayor Md Hanif Flyover in Dholaipar, leading Rasel to step out of the car to assess the damage.
Although he signalled the bus not to drive away, bus driver Kabir Hossain, in his attempt to flee the scene, ran over Rasel, severing his left leg from the thigh down in the process.
After being informed, police impounded the bus and detained Kabir from near the National Press Club.
