BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia has filed an appeal with the High Court seeking bail in a case filed over the killing of eight people—in an arson attack on a bus—in 2015, in Comilla.
On behalf of Khaleda Zia, her lawyer Kaisar Kamal filed the petition with the bench of the High Court concerned, on Wednesday.
The petition will move forward the bench of Justice AKM Asaduzzaman and Justice SM Mozibur Rahman for the hearing, said the lawyer.
Previously, on February 4, Comilla Additional District and Session Judge Mohammad Ali Akbar rejected the bail petition of Khaleda Zia in the case.
On January 23, the High Court asked the lower court concerned to dispose of the petition filed seeking bail for BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia by February 4.
The hearing on the bail petition in the case has been deferred four times, thus far, for various reasons.
On January 16, a court deferred the charge-framing and bail petition hearings of BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia in the case.
Eight people were killed, and at least 20 others were injured, in a petrol bomb attack on a bus at Jogmohanpur in Chouddagram upazila on February 3, 2015; during the BNP-led alliance's political movement.
Two cases were filed against Khaleda Zia in connection with this.
