The High Court on Monday directed the authorities concerned to pay salary and other benefits to 45 government primary school headmasters according to the 10th grade pay scale.
A High Court division bench comprising Justice Naima Haider and Justice Khizir Ahmed Choudhury, issued the order following a writ petition filed by 45 headmasters seeking the necessary order to this effect.
The order will be effective from March 9, 2014.
In 2014, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina directed the authorities concerned to upgrade the status of primary school headmasters to the second class and the concerned ministry issued a gazette notification on the same day.
But the concerned ministry tactically fixed the salary scale of the headmasters to the 11th grade which is contradictory to the 2014 gazette notification.
The lawyers also said that second class officials are paid under the 10th grade.
A total of 45 teachers filed a writ petition with the High Court on March 5, 2018, which issued a rule. The court gave Monday’s verdict after holding the final hearing on the rule.
