HC asks EC to register Nazmul Huda’s Trinamool BNP as political party

The High Court has instructed the Election Commission to register Trinamool BNP of Barrister Nazmul Huda as a political party.

The bench of Justices Tariq ul Hakim and Md Shohrowardi came up with the order following a petition on Sunday, reports UNB.

Huda represented his party while Deputy Attorney General Amatul Karim represented the state, at the petition hearing.

Earlier on August 14, the High Court issued a rule asking the government to explain as to why the authorities concerned should not be directed to register Trinamool BNP of Huda as a political party.

The Election Commission on June 14 sent a notice to Huda where it showed three reasons for not registering his party.

Later, Huda filed a writ petition challenging the Election Commission notice.

Earlier on November 20, 2015, Huda, a former minister of the former BNP government, launched Trinamool BNP. At the time he said Khaleda Zia-led BNP had failed to perform as a political party.
