3 to die for killing 2 children in Habiganj

A Habiganj court has sentenced to death three people for killing two children in 2008. The convicts are Abdul Ali, 40, Arju Mia, 40, and Sayed Ali, 36, of Joshpal village under Bahubal Upazila. Judge Mafroza Parveen of the Additional District and Sessions Judge’s Court gave the verdict Sunday afternoon in presence of Sayed. The two others are on the run. The victims – Nurul Mia, 10, and Ahad, 8 – are sons of Siddique Ali of the same village. According to the case, the convicts killed the children on August 18, 2008 over previous enmity. Police filed the charge sheet against the trio on September 15 the same year. The court recorded statements of 19 prosecution witnesses before pronouncing the verdict.
