Court summons SA TV chair, MD

Judge Md Bulbul Islam of the Senior Judicial Magistrate Court (Sadar) of Jessore issued the summons on Thursday, taking a defamation suit into cognisance. Anubrata Saha Mithun, who used to work as the Jessore correspondent of the private television channel, filed the complaint on December 26 last year after the SA TV authorities had published a newspaper notice alleging the plaintiff to be involved in extortion. The lawsuit accused SA TV Chairperson Farida Parvin, Managing Director Salah Uddin Ahmmed, Deputy Managing Director Selina Akter, directors Nure Alam Rubel and Shirin Akter, Manager Samsur Alam and Manager of the Jessore branch of SA Paribahan Shah Jamal. Anubrata claimed that he had resigned from his position following all official procedures of returning office equipment and his identity card. The court issued the summons after hearing the police investigation report on Thursday.
