Death of Dhaka Tribune executive: Bus driver, helper remanded

A Dhaka court has placed two people on remand in a case over the death of Dhaka Tribune’s employee Nazim Uddin in a deadly road accident.

Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Pranab Kumar Whui passed the order on Tuesday.

Earlier on Sunday, Jatrabari police station Sub-Inspector Iqbal Hossain produced Srabon Paribahan’s driver Mohammad Ohidur and Monzil Paribahan’s helper Mohamamd Kamal before the court with a seven-day remand pea.

Nazim, a senior executive of the Dhaka Tribune’s advertisement department, was killed on May 17, as a bus hit his motorcycle and ran over him on the Mayor Mohammad Hanif Flyover in Jatrabari while it was trying to overtake another bus.

He was taken to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH), where on-duty doctors pronounced him dead.

Police later impounded two buses involved in the incident that led to Nazim's death, and detained the duo.
