A court has set May 13 for submitting the probe report against BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia, and 14 others in a sabotage case.
The court of Metropolitan Magistrate Nurunnahar Yesmin fixed the date on Wednesday.
Mayez Ahmed, assistant to a general registrar of the court told this correspondent: “April 4 was the deadline for submitting the probe report.
“However, the court extended the deadline until May 13, as an inspector from the Shahbagh Police Station was unable to submit the report on Wednesday.”
According to the case documents, leaders and activists of the Muktijoddha Parishad gathered in the Gulshan area of Dhaka for a demonstration on February 16, 2015.
The demonstrators, led by incumbent Shipping Minister Shahjahan Khan, were planning to lay siege to the BNP Chairperson’s office in the same area.
After holding a rally in Gulshan, the Muktijoddha Parishad activists numbering in the thousands began advancing towards Khaleda’s office. However, a bomb was thrown at the demonstrators.
Later, Dhaka Janbahon Union General Secretary Ismail Hossain Bachchu filed a case over the incident.
Some of the other accused of the case are BNP Vice Chairman Selima Rahman, and senior party leader Khandaker Mahbubur Rahman.
