Arrest warrants issued against 23 BNP leaders

A Dhaka court has issued arrest warrants against 23 BNP leaders in two cases. Judge Md Kamrul Hossain Molla of Dhaka Metropolitan Sessions Judges' Court passed the order on Sunday. The cases were filed against 41 accused on charges of torching a vehicle in Malibagh during a demonstration on February 3, 2015. One case was filed under the Explosive Substances Act, the other under the Special Powers Act with the Rampura police station. Taking cognizance of two charge sheets, the court issued the arrest warrants after cancelling the bail of 23 BNP leaders. One accused is currently under arrest, while 17 others are still ion bail. Senior party leaders, such as Barkatullah Bulu, Shawkat Mahmud and Habib-un-Nabi Khan Sohel are among the 23 BNP leaders facing arrest in the two cases.
