A Dhaka court on Sunday sentenced a man for killing his sister-in-law in Dhaka's Pallabi area in 2013 over a family feud.
The convict is Rabbi Hossain Mona, 34 who killed his sister-in-law in 2013.
Abdul Rahman Sardar, a judge of the Speedy Trial Tribunal-4, handed down the verdict on Sunday.
According to the prosecution, the victim Sayera Khatun Alo, who worked as a seamstress, used to live in a rented home with her husband Sohel in the area.
Alo’s brother-in-law Rabbi, who had no income, also lived in the same house.
The unemployed Rabbi often used to engage in a skirmish with his sister-in-law owing to his inability to contribute to the family expenses.
On September 6, 2013, Sayera, along with Rabbi, left the house with Tk20,000 to repay a loan on a gold necklace she had pawned.
As per a previous plan, Rabbi stabbed Sayera to death in front of Abbas Uddin School of Section 11 under Pallabi thana.
Later, Sayera's brother Shahjalal filed a case accusing Rabbi with Pallabi Police Station. Rabbi confessed the murder before the court.
Abdul Baten, sub-inspector of the police station, and also investigation officer of the case submitted a charge sheet on April 30, 2014 and the court indicted Rabbi on July 15 of the same year.
