Law Minister Anisul Huq on Monday told the House that he holds firm conviction that the verdict on the 16th Amendment to the Bangladesh Constitution appeal review will be in the state’s favour, reports UNB.
"I still think that we insh'Allah (God willing) will be successful in the legal proceedings over the case of the 16th amendment," he told Parliament in reply to a supplementary question from Jatiya Party lawmaker Fakhrul Imam.
Fakhrul wanted to know the minister's latest remarks on the matter after judgment of the Appellate Division of the Supreme Court.
The lawmaker from Mymensingh 8 also reminded the minister about the latter’s optimistic statement at the Jatiya Sangsad earlier regarding winning the legal battle over this contentious issue, as the situation had unfolded in the opposite.
In reply, Anisul said that, being a part of the case, he had made the remark in the House after the verdict of the High Court.
"I had said that we'll definitely win the legal battle. But it is up to the Appellate Division what judgment it will deliver," he added.
