Gambling ban at clubs to stay

Justice Syed Mahmud Hossain of Chamber Judge of the Appellate Division of Supreme Court passed the order responding to a Dhaka Club’s petition, confirmed the club’s lawyer Mehedi Hasan Chowdhury. The petition was sent to the full bench of Appellate Division for a hearing on Wednesday, said the lawyer. On December 4, the HC directed the government to stop gambling in the clubs in Dhaka, Chittagong, Khulna, Sylhet and Narayanganj immediately, being moved by a writ petition. The clubs include Dhaka Club Limited, Uttara Club Ltd, Gulshan Club Ltd, Dhanmondi Club Ltd, Banani Club Ltd, Officers’ Club Dhaka.
