ACC summons suspended NCP leader, former APS, PO to two advisers

The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has formed inquiry committees to investigate allegations of corruption involving a former assistant private secretary (APS) and a personal officer to two advisers and Gazi Sahlahuddin Tanvir, suspended former joint member secretary of the National Citizen Party (NCP), summoning the three individuals to appear and provide statements regarding the allegations.

ACC Deputy Director and Public Relations Officer Md Akhtarul Islam confirmed the formation of the committees on Thursday.

Akhtarul said the individuals have been asked to appear before the ACC to respond to the allegations.

He added: “Among them, Tuhin Farabi, former personal officer to the health adviser, has been summoned on May 20. Former NCP leader Gazi Salahuddin has been asked to appear on May 21, while Moazzem Hossain, former APS to the adviser of the Ministry of Youth and Sports, has been scheduled for May 22.”

The ACC said it has received numerous allegations against Md Moazzem Hossain, former APS to Asif Mahmud Shojib Bhuyain, adviser for both the Ministry of Youth and Sports and the Ministry of Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives.

The allegations include abuse of power, influence peddling, extortion, and tender manipulation, involving hundreds of crores in financial misconduct.

In response, a two-member inquiry committee has been formed, led by Assistant Director Asif Al Mahmud, with Deputy Assistant Director Minu Akter Sumi as the other member.

Similarly, Md Tuhin Farabi, former personal officer to Nurjahan Begum, adviser for the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, is accused of abusing power and engaging in similar irregularities and corruption schemes worth hundreds of crores.

The ACC has appointed Assistant Director Mohammad Noor Alam Siddiqui as the investigating officer for this case.

In addition, Gazi Salahuddin Tanvir, former joint member secretary of the NCP, faces allegations of amassing illegal wealth worth hundreds of crores through abuse of power, lobbying, extortion, and tender irregularities.

Assistant Director SM Rashedul Hasan has been assigned to lead the investigation into these claims.
