The Anti-Corruption Commission has filed a case against Goalanda Municipality Mayor Nazrul Islam for concealing wealth information.
ACC Faridpur-affiliated District Office Assistant Director Sardar Abul Basarwadi filed the case on Tuesday.
Sources said the mayor has been sued under Sections 26 (2) and 27 (1) of the ACC Act 2004.
It also said that Nazrul Islam has concealed information regarding Tk32.55 lakh in his wealth statement. Along with this, the mayor has wealth worth Tk59.74 lakh outside his known source of income.
The charges against the mayor were initially proved on November 18, 2019. After that, the ACC asked the mayor to submit his wealth statement.
