ACC sues three over Gazipur City Corporation cheque fraud

The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has filed a case against two former and one suspended official of the Gazipur City Corporation (GCC) on charges of swindling more than Tk82 lakh through a cheque scam.

ACC Deputy Director Rashedul Islam filed the case at the ACC’s Dhaka-1 Integrated District Office on Wednesday.

The accused are former GCC chief executive officer KM Rahatul Islam, former chief accounting officer Chhayedul Islam and suspended accounting officer Nazrul Islam.

They allegedly embezzled Tk82,34,828 from the city corporation’s funds by forging the signature of former Gazipur mayor Prof Abdul Mannan.
