The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has summoned one of the directors of Shaheed Suhrawardy Medical College Hospital (ShSMCH) over irregularities in the purchase of medical equipment and amassing illegal wealth.
ACC Public Relations Officer Pranab Kumar Bhattacharya confirmed the matter on Sunday.
The accused - Dr Uttam Kumar Barua - is a professor and head of the Respiratory Medicine Department, and also a director of the hospital.
A letter was sent to Dr Barua by the ACC Deputy Director Shamsul Alam on Sunday, asking him to appear at the ACC headquarters on December 5.
According to ACC case file, the accused will provide his national ID card, passport, a list of the medical equipment he purchased for the medical college, and his financial accounting documents on that day.
