Crude bomb blast sparks panic at Dhaka University

A crude bomb exploded again in the Dhaka University campus area on Tuesday night.

The explosion took place around 10:45pm near the main gate of Jagannath Hall, triggering panic among students in the hall and nearby areas.

According to reports, unidentified men arrived on motorcycles, detonated the crude bomb targeting the road in front of the hall, and fled the scene.

Security personnel and students rushed to the spot following the explosion. No casualties were reported immediately.

Soon after the incident, the university’s proctorial team and police from Shahbagh police station visited the scene. Additional police and security measures have been deployed across the campus.

Shahbagh police station Officer-in-Charge Moniruzzaman said CCTV footage from key points across the campus was being analysed to identify and apprehend those involved.

He said the perpetrators would be brought to justice.
