Dhaka University has decided to extend the closing time of its girls' hall gates by one hour, moving it from 10pm to 11pm.
The decision was taken at a meeting of the Syndicate, the university's highest policy-making forum, on Monday.
A committee has also been formed to implement other related demands made by the female students, with the Pro-Vice-Chancellor (Administration) as convener, the provosts of the women's halls as members, and the proctor as member-secretary.
Confirming the decision, Dhaka University Pro-Vice-Chancellor (Administration) Professor Mohammed Almujaddade Alfasane told Dhaka Tribune: "The time for the girls' halls has been extended to 11pm. It has been extended by one hour. And to implement the other demands, a committee has been formed with the Pro-VC (Administration) as convener, the provosts of the girls' halls as members, and the Proctor as member-secretary."
