The cellular phone operator Robi has offered free calls and text messages to earthquake-hit Nepal from its network for 48 hours.
The offer was effective from 8am on Tuesday, said a press release.
The release said calling and texting to and from Nepal without charges will be applied to all post-paid and pre-paid customers of Robi with international calling.
"As a small gesture during this hour of crisis, Robi has decided to offer free calls and text messages to Nepal,” said Matiul Islam Nowshad, Robi's chief corporate and people officer.
“This would enable our subscribers across the country to get in touch with their families and friends in Nepal."
This initiative is designed to help Robi customers check on their friends and relatives who might have been affected by the 7.8 magnitude earthquake that struck Nepal on April 25, the release added.
