Asad Uzzaman Asad, assistant secretary of Chhatra League's central committee, has withdrawn his candidacy as an independent councillor candidate for Ward No 21.
He made the announcement at a press conference held in Dhaka University Central Students' Council (Ducsu) on Monday afternoon.
Asad said: “I am withdrawing the candidacy as per the order of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.”
In his Facebook status, he claimed that he had faced a lot of threats but did not give up his candidacy. But now, he was compelled to do so.
