Relief from Bangladesh reaches Kathmandu

An aircraft of Biman Bangladesh Airlines reached Kathmandu yesterday afternoon with relief and aid teams following a directive of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.

Bangladesh Air Force’s C-130 aircraft loaded with 10 tonnes of relief materials landed at Kathmandu, said a press release from the Inter-Service Public Relations (ISPR) signed by Assistant Director Reza-ul Karim.

The relief includes medicines, tents, dry food, drinking water and blankets, the release read.

Six medical teams of the army were included in the aid team.

However, the release did not mention when the team will return home.

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina had earlier directed the authorities to send aid for Nepal after a 7.9 magnitude earthquake struck the Himalayan country on Saturday causing deaths of more than 2,200. Scores of buildings collapsed in the quake.
