JnU teacher assaulted by BCL leader

A female teacher of Jagannath University (JnU) has been assaulted by a leader of Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) of the university unit.

The victim is Lubna Zebin Lopa, a teacher of public administration department, of the university. 

“Araz interrupted me near sociology department while I was heading to my department around 12:30pm on Sunday. Over the matter, I engaged in an altercation with him and at one stage, Araz assaulted me and made indecent comments."

“Later, I slapped him,” she continued.

Araz Mia was handed over to police after the victim placed a written statement to the proctor office, witnesses said.

But the university wing Chhatra League general secretary snatched him from the police in front of the campus canteen.

When contacted, Assistant Proctor Dr Nur Mohammad said: “The incident is very nasty. We must take action over the matter.”

Following the incident, the general students held processions and rally on the campus.

Araz Mia is a fifth batch student of Islamic studies and culture department of the university.
