Insurgent opens at Blockbuster Cinemas

Insurgent, the second instalment of the Divergent trilogy, will open today at the Blockbuster Cinemas of Jamuna Future Park. It is now Robert Schwentke’s take on the sci-fi adventure.

Along with the first film’s returning cast, the sequel features supporting actors Octavia Spencer, Naomi Watts, Suki Waterhouse, Rosa Salazar and others. Robert Schwentke has taken over from Neil Burger as director, with Burger serving as the executive producer of the film.

Based on Veronica Roth’s trilogy of best-selling novels, the Divergent films are set in a walled, post-apocalyptic Chicago, where survivors are ritualistically sorted into five factions. Every 16-year-old is tested for which faction suits them, and then must choose one and remain there forever.

Much of the drama of Insurgent takes place in a virtual reality, in which Tris frequently faces various simulation challenges, forcing her to reconcile her guilt in the death of her parents, as seen in the first instalment.

“The Divergent Series: Insurgent,” a Summit Entertainment release, is rated PG-13 for “intense violence and action throughout, some sensuality, thematic elements and brief language.” Running time: 118 minutes.
