Rampura victims’ bodies handed over to family

The bodies of 12 killed in two-storey tin-house collapse have been handed over to their families.

Dhaka district Tejgaon circle officer Shakil Ahmed told the Dhaka Tribune that the bodies of 12 had been handed over to their families on Thursday morning.

Each victim’s family was given Tk20,000 for burial, he added.

The rescue operation is still underway till filing of the report at 1:30pm, said acting Director General AKM Shakil Newaz of Dhaka district Fire Service and Civil Defence.

No more body was found, he added.

Twelve people were killed after a two-storey house in the capital’s Rampura Boubazar area collapsed around 3pm Wednesday. The house was built with tin and bamboos on a water-body.
