Twenty-five people have been killed and 23 others injured as a bus crushed into a roadside tree in east Shodordi area under Bhanga upazila in Faridpur.
The deceased could not be identified immediately.
Bhanga highway police station OC Mohammad Hossain Sardar confirmed about the deaths to the Dhaka Tribune.
He said: “A Kuakata-bound bus of Shonartori Poribohon crushed into a roadside tree when its driver lost his control over the steering around 1:30am Thursday, killing 20 people on the spot.”
“The injured were taken to Faridpur Medical College Hospital where the duty doctor declared five of the injured dead,” he added.
Meanwhile, President M Abdul Hamid and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina have expressed their condolence at the death of the people in the accident.
