PM:10,000 nurses to be recruited

The government will appoint 10,000 more nurses in the country for further development of the health sector, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has said.

She made the announcement while launching the academic activities of Sheikh Fazilatunnesa Mujib Memorial KPJ Nursing College at Tetuibari, Kashimpur in Gazipur on Wednesday, reports BSS.

"There is a need for both doctors and nurses in the country to meet the shortage. So, we have decided to recruit 10,000 more nurses in the country and we are creating posts," she said.

The institute has been set up on the compound of Sheikh Fazilatunnesa Mujib KPJ Specialized Hospital that was established in 2013 on six acres of land at a cost of Tk215 crore under the Public-Private Partnership (PPP).

Sheikh Hasina said her government has taken massive steps to create qualified and efficient nurses who would be able to work at home and abroad taking the facilities of employment.
