A high-level meeting has been held between the Indian Coast Guard and Bangladesh Coast Guard in Delhi, India were the two sides discussed ways of enhancing cooperation between them.
Rear Admiral Mohammad Makbul Hossain, Director General of Bangladesh Coast Guard led the Bangladesh delegation while his Indian counterpart Vice Admiral H C S Bisht led the Indian delegation to the meeting.
The issues discussed at the meeting included training for Bangladesh Coast Guard personnel, cooperation on combating maritime crimes, maritime search and rescue and pollution response at sea.
The meeting is a step ahead in institutionalisation of cooperation between the two Coast Guards, an official press release said here on Tuesday.
The Bangladesh Coast Guard delegation is scheduled to visit Mumbai and Kolkata before they depart for Dhaka on April 10. They will be briefed on various facets of ICG operations and shipbuilding in India, the press release added.
