National flag carrier Biman Bangladesh Airlines will resume its halted flights on Dhaka-Barisal-Dhaka route from Wednesday, eight-year after suspending domestic flights on this sector on November 16, 2006.
Md Hanif Gazi, aerodrome officer and manager of the airport, said the airport is ready to operate passenger flight.
Rashed Khan Menon, civil aviation and tourism minister, who also a native resident of Babuganj upazila where the airport situated, will inaugurate the flight operation of Biman at the airport lounge on Wednesday afternoon, said airport manager.
Khalilur Rahman, Barisal office manager of Biman Bangladesh, said 74-seated Dash-8 Q-800 plane will operative flights from Dhaka at 4pm and from Barisal at 4:55pm on Wednesday and Sunday.
One-way fare is Tk3,000-4,000 for a 67 aeronautical miles of 30 minutes trip on this route.
Passenger transportation from and to airport and Biman office at Barisal city centre would also be arranged.
All seats of the inaugural flight from Dhaka and most of the seats from Barisal have already booked, Biman Barisal office manager informed.
