The Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has called for making more Liberation War-centric movies in order to educate people about the victorious history of the nation.
She also urged the filmmakers to give focus on country's history, heritage and culture as well as social issues saying the movies must be creative, decent and educative.
“Movies are an important medium for social change. So you have to give attention so that people can learn something from movies and play role positively in the society through applying that learning,” she said.
She said this while distributing the National Film Award-2013 at a function at Bangabandhu International Conference Centre on Saturday afternoon.
Terming the film makers as the creative and popular figures, she said, "People follow you. So your responsibility is much more than any other person in the society."
“The scene, dialogue, story and production technique of the movies should be of such nature so that all members of a family can jointly enjoy the movie.”
The PM also praised the recent success of many movies at home and abroad saying the performance and professionalism of our actors, actresses and technicians are going better and in overall consideration country's film industry is going ahead.
Minister for Information Hasanul Haq Inu presided over the function while Chairman of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Information Ministry AKM Rahmatullah was special guest.

A total of 28 actors, actresses, artistes, producers, directors and technicians were given the National Film Award 2013 in 25 categories.
On behalf of the award recipients, Sarah Begum Kabori also spoke on the occasion.
Congratulating the winners of the National Film Award the PM hoped that the recognition would encourage the creative, talented and patriotic filmmakers in making life-oriented movies.
