Police have detained eight Myanmar nationals and a Bangladeshi broker while intruding into the country at Shah Amanat Third Karnaphuli Bridge in Chittagong.
The Bangladeshi broker is Hossain Mohammad Jashim, 22, hailed from Cox’s Bazar.
Bakulia police OC Mohammad Mohsin said: “Sensing their suspicious movement, police searched their bus and detained them at the entrance point around 5am Saturday.”
“The eight Myanmar nationals arrived in Chittagong crossing the Naf River on Thursday with the assistance of Jashim.”
The detainees were handed over to Bakulia police station, the OC added.
