Five people have been killed when a trawler with 75 passengers on board capsized in Meghna River after being hit by a cargo vessel near Bhasanchar in Munshiganj’s Gazaria.
At least 13 others have gone missing in the incident.
The identities of the deceased could not be ascertained.
Assistant Superintendent of Police Imdad Hossain confirmed the deaths to the Dhaka Tribune on Thursday..
Gazaria Sub-Inspector Md Habibur Rahman said the incident occurred when sand-laden cargo vessel crashed into the trawler near Bhasanchar in Munshiganj’s Gazaria around 8pm Wednesday.
