PM seeks more French investment

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Wednesday invited more French investment to Bangladesh’s various sectors for the country’s overall development.

The prime minister made the request when newly appointed French Ambassador to Bangladesh Sophie Aubert met her at her office.

After the meeting, PM’s Press Secretary AKM Shameem Chowdhury briefed reporters.

In response, he said, the Ambassador told Sheikh Hasina that a number of French companies are interested to work in Bangladesh.

The prime minister recalled with gratitude the support of French people and their intellectuals during the war of liberation in 1971 and appreciated their help for the development of Bangladesh since independence.

She also laid emphasis on high-level bilateral visits to tap the potentials in both the countries.

The prime minister expressed satisfaction over the existing excellent relations between the two countries and hoped that the ties would further be extended in the days to come.

The French envoy highly appreciated Bangladesh’s Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina for her leading role in global initiatives to combat the adverse impacts of climate change.

He said French is working with the Environment and Forests Ministry for the protection of environment in Bangladesh.
