International flight operation has been started tentatively at Osmani International Airport, Sylhet.
Sources said lack of a refuelling station there had appeared main bar on the way to make it as an international airport.
A flight of Fly Dubai Airlines with 132 passengers on board landed on the airport at 5:25pm yesterday as part of the move and it returned after about one hours, said Manager of Airport Hafiz Uddin Ahmed.
The plane, for the first time, collected fuel from the airport’s refuelling station before departure, said Aminul Huq, project director of the station.
Project Director Aminul went on that “We will observe the system (testing stage) for one and a half months. The formal inauguration date will be fixed later, but now we are ready to operate international flights in the airport.”
