Border Guard Bangladesh and Bangladesh Ansar emerged as the men’s and women’s champions of the Independence Day Cup Handball after winning their respective finals at the handball stadium yesterday. The men’s and women’s teams of Bangladesh Police lost both the finals.
In the men’s final, BGB outplayed Bangladesh Police by 34-18 goals while the women’s champions, Bangladesh Ansar, overpowered their opponents by 22-10 goals. Roksana scored nine goals for the winners.
The senior vice president of Bangladesh Handball Federation Kazi Mahtabuddin Ahmed distributed the prizes as the chief guest. Asaduzzaman Kohinor, the general secretary of the federation, tournament committee chairman Hamida Begum and secretary Jahangir Hossain were also present on the occasion.
