A person, who received severe burns in Magura truck arson, has succumbed to his injuries at Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH).
Truck driver Imran, 30, who received 50% burns, died at the Intensive Care Unit of the DMCH around 6am Wednesday.
Dr Partha Shankar Pal, residential surgeon of the DMCH burn unit, confirmed the death to the Dhaka Tribune.
With him, the death toll in the arson has risen to five.
Four other victims are undergoing treatment at the burn unit of the hospital, Shankar Pal added.
Nine people received burns as unidentified miscreants hurled petrol bomb at a truck on Magura-Jessore Highway in Moghirdhal area under the Sadar upazila on March 21.
Of the injured, Yadul Hossain, 30, died on March 25, Roushan, 35, Shakil Miah, 35, and Matin Biswas died at the burn and plastic surgery unit of DMCH on March 22.
So far, more than 125 people have died and scores have been injured in different parts of the country in violence during the BNP-led alliance enforced non-stop blockade.
Of those, a large number of arson attacks are being conducted on highways. Hundreds of vehicles, including those belonging to law-enforcers, were burnt and attacked, leaving some 75 people dead.
