The government has set a target to increase foreign tourists to 10 lakh from current nearly 5 lakh in the tourism year 2016, Civil Aviation and Tourism Minister Rashed Khan Menon said.
The tourism minister came up with the target while addressing a function titled "Thank You Bangladesh' marking the achievements made over the last four years of Bangladesh Tourism Board (BTB) in a Dhaka hotel on Wednesday evening, reports BSS.
"We would be able to attract one million foreign tourists in 2016, the declared earlier Tourism Year" he said.
The minister sought support from all the stakeholders to achieve the target.
Menon, however, admitted that Bangladesh is yet to become an attractive tourism destination as desired despite having immense potential.
