A woman has reportedly attempted suicide after slaughtering her two children at Borohatia area under Lohagara upazila in Chittagong.
Rehana Akhter, who killed her seven-year-old daughter Marium and two-year-old son Yasin, has been admitted to Chittagong Medical College Hospital (CMCH).
Quoting the locals, Lohagara police station OC Md Shahjahan said: “Rehana attempted suicide by cutting her throat with a sharp knife after slaughtering her two children early Wednesday.”
“Hearing the scream of the children, locals went to the spot and found Marium and Yasin dead while Rehana critically injured. Her husband Humayun, who is a night guard, was on his duty.”
“Being informed, the police recovered the bodies and admitted Rehana to the hospital.”
The neighbors claimed that the housewife was suffering from mental illness.
