Khanjanpur High School, Joypurhat clinched the title of the First Security Islami Bank National School Hockey beating Armanitola Government High School, Dhaka 2-1 at the Moulana Bhashani National Hockey Stadium yesterday.
Mohammed Shihab Hossain of Armanitola put his team ahead in the 9th minute but Fahim Faisal of Khanjanpur restored parity in the 35th minute. Amiruddin Fakir netted the winner in the 44th minute. The champions received Tk3,00,000 while the runners-up pocketed Tk2,00,000.
JM Sen High School of Chittagong, who finished third, collected Tk1,00,000 while Rafikuddin High School, Comilla bagged the Fair Play trophy.
Shihab was adjudged the best forward, Arman of Armanitola was named the best goalkeeper while Yamin and Ashraful of Khanjanpur were rewarded with the trophies of the best defender and the best midfielder respectively.
State Minister for Youth and Sports Biren Sikder distributed the prizes as the chief guest. Federation president Air Marshal Enamul Bari, First Security Islami Bank Managing Director Syed Wasek Mohammed Ali and tournament committee chairman Mahfuzur Rahman were also present on the occasion.
