A man has been burnt alive in a fire at Bara Chaona Bazar under Sakhipur upazila in Tangail.
The deceased was identified as Hamidul Haque, 20, son of Tuta Mia, of the bazar area, Sakhipur OC Bazlur Rashid told the Dhaka Tribune.
A total of four shops were gutted in the fire that was originated from electric short circuit at a stationary shop around 4am on Saturday, the police official said.
On information, Sakhipur fire service unit doused the blaze and recovered the body from a gutted shop.
Two workers – Hafizur Rahman and Faisal Ahmed – received serious burn injuries and they were admitted to Burnt and Plastic Surgery Unit of Dhaka Medical College and Hospital.
The loss from the fire was estimated at Tk50 lakh, according to the traders.
