Jubo League leader killed in AL factional clash

A Jubo League leader, who sustained injuries in a Awami League factional clash on Friday, has died at Dhaka Medical College Hospital.

Monu Mia died around 10:30pm on Monday, Haidarganj police outpost In-charge Sub-Inspector Maiyen Uddin told the Dhaka Tribune.

Union Jubo League President Koushik Ahmed Sohel said Monu was the publicity secretary of Jubo League's South Ababil union unit.

Locals said Manu was a member of militant organisation Ulfa force. He attacked and chopped Union Parishad Chairman Shahid Ullah on March 13.

Later, two factions of Awami League locked into a clash when Shahid's supporters beat Manu severely following the attack on the union chairman.

Manu was taken to DMCH where he succumbed to his injuries on Monday night.

Raipur OC AKM Manjurul Haque Akand said additional police were deployed in the area to avoid untoward situation.
