Saiful Islam Talukder, joint-secretary general of Bangladesh Federal Union of Journalist (BFUJ) and special correspondent of the Daily Amader Samay died of a cardiac arrest at a city hospital last night. He was 56.
A family source said, Saiful breathed his last at a hospital in the capital at about 11pm soon after he was taken there with severe chest pain from his Gopibag residence.
He left behind his wife, three daughters, one son and a large number of colleagues, friends, relatives and well-wishers to mourn his death.
He was a former vice-president of Dhaka Union of Journlaists (DUJ).
Saiful Islam will be laid to eternal rest at his family graveyard in Chandpur this afternoon.
Two separate namaj-e-jnazas will be held at Jatiya Press club premises and Dhaka Reporters Unity (DRU) at Segunbagicha this noon.
