Housing and Public Works Minister Engineer Mosharraf Hossain has held corrupt Rajuk officials responsible for the establishment of the commercial buildings in residential areas of the capital.
He made the statement while addressing a press conference at the secretariat on Sunday afternoon.
The minister said: “Corrupt Rajuk officials are responsible for the construction of commercial buildings in residential areas like Dhanmondi, Gulshan, Banani and Baridhara.”
Replying to a query, he said: “We are not being able to take actions against them [the building owners] because of legal limitations.
“The building owners get stay order from the High Court which stops us from taking immediate actions against them.”
He also said the design plan for Purbachol housing project would be unveiled on July 1.
