The Detective Branch (DB) of Police has detained the chief administrator of pro-Jamaat Facebook page Basherkella.
The detainee is KM Ziauddin Fahad.
DMP spokesperson Monirul Islam said Fahad was held from his sister's residence in Comilla Cadet College Residential Area ofaround 4:30pm on Thursday.
“Fahad is also the IT affairs chief coordinator of Jamaat-Shibir," Monirul Islam said.
He said 50 others along with Fahar run about 20 paid Facebook pages. "They usually post instigative statements on those pages."
The DB personnel also seized a laptop and two mobile phone handsets from the possession of Fahad.
The DB spokesperson said they were interrogating Fahad.
On February 18 last year, RAB personnel arrested another admin of Basherkella, Rasel Bin Sattar Khan. Rasel was a final year student of jute technology department at Tangail Textile Institute.
Rasel publicised the “audio clip of al-Qaeda leader Ayman al-Zawahiri” by uploading it in different websites. Apart from having al-Qaeda links, RAB officials said the youth had also sent super-imposed fake photographs regarding the rally of Hefazat-e-Islam on May 5 and 6 last year to the president of Iran on May 7 through an e-mail titled “Mass killing on protesters in Dhaka at night by armed joint force at least killed thousands.”
He was also a fan of Abdur Rahman, chief of the banned militant outfit Jama’atul Mujahideen Bangladesh, who was executed in 2007. In one of his timeline posts, Rasel, 21, expressed his desire to start an affair with Pakistani teenager Malala Yusufjai and talked about “Banglakistan.”
