Another Chittagong arson victim dies

A person, who sustained severe burn injuries in an arson attack in Chittagong, has died at Chittagong Medical College Hospital.

Md Saber, 28, died at the Intensive Care Unit of the hospital around 9am on Tuesday.

He was the driver of the CNG-run auto rickshaw that came under attack near the Chariya Madrasa area of Hathazari upazila on March 4.

Dr Mishma Islam, on-duty doctor of the CMCH burn unit, confirmed the death to the Dhaka Tribune.

She said: “Saber was admitted to the hospital with 40% burns.”

On March 6, day labourer Ranjit, who was also injured in the same arson attack died of his injuries at CMCH.

Following the arson attack, the police filed a case with Hathazari police station mentioning names of 33 BNP-Jamaat men and 15 unidentified others; so far, 17 people have been arrested in this connection.
