Rise of an empire

Empire is a grittier, TV appropriate, version of a musical. It’s the inner world and workings of a hip hop empire led by Lucious Lyon, played by the Oscar winner Terrence Howard. With his ex-wife and business partner Cookie Lyon (Taraji P Henson), along with his three sons, Lucious wants to leave a legacy that will go unchallenged in the music world.

Apart from the wonderful cast, the music nearly outshines the performances of the lead roles. Timbaland, as the show’s executive music producer, has been in the music industry for decades. It’s a pleasant surprise to see him dabble the lucrative small screen business. The music is brilliantly performed by each character that takes part in the show, both actors and real life musicians. Not only is the show doing well on air, the music is making the Billboard charts. But that is only half of the success.

The story is intriguing, and so are the one on one battles between the characters. The show may be music driven, yet it shows the more realistic and scandalous side of the music industry.

This show’s audience has been growing every week, significantly. For several weeks, Empire’s viewers keep growing and the ratings average is at an all-time high. It’s clear to see Empire is on its way to the top as the number one drama. We’re staying tuned, and so should you.
