Local administration has imposed section 144 in Chhatak upazila of Sunamganj district as two London expatriates called a meeting at the same venue at the same time.
The ban has been imposed from 6am on Monday and will continue till further notice, said UNO Md Mujibur Rahman.
Jauya Bazar police investigation centre In-Charge Sub-Inspector Shafiqul Islam said: “London expatriates Gias Mia and Ali Jakev called separate meetings at Jauya Bazar around 10am which increased tension in the area.”
He said the ban was imposed to avoid untoward situations in the area.
Police have been deployed in the venue of the meetings.
