A person has been shot dead in a clash between two outlawed groups in Shirkhara union under the sadar upazila in Madaripur.
The deceased is Hiru Sheikh of Gunshi Village.
Three others received bullet wounds during the clash.
Madaripur Assistant Police Superintendent Abu Bakar Siddiqui said: “Two outlawed groups backed by Shirkhara UP Chairman Mujibur Rahman Hawlader and another backed by the Habi-Mofiz group locked in a clash over establishing supremacy in the area around 8:30pm on Saturday, leaving four injured by bullets."
The injured were taken to Madaripur sadar hospital where Hiru was declared dead around 11:30pm.
Meanwhile, the other three injured were shifted to Faridpur Medical College Hospital for better treatment.
Additional police were deployed in the area as well to avoid untoward situations.
