Bilateral trade between Dhaka and Beijing crossed $10 billion in the recent years, with Bangladesh becoming the third largest trade partner of China among Southeast Asian countries.
“At the same time China has become the number one import source for Bangladesh,” Industries Minister Amir Hossain Amu told a reception for the newly appointed Chinese ambassador in Dhaka, Ma Mingqiang, organised by Bangladesher Samyabadi Dal (ML) at a hotel in the capital city.
Commerce Minister Tofail Ahmed, Health Minister Mohammed Naism, Civil Aviation and Tourism Minister Rashed Khan Menon and Prime Minister’s Foreign Affairs Adviser Dr Gowher Rizvi addressed the programme, chaired by Samyabadi Dal president and former industries minister Dilip Barua.
