One held with 25 firearms

Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) has arrested a person with petrol bombs from Kotwali police station in Faridpur town.

The arrestee is Mohammad Habibur Rahman alias Sumon Sheikh, 20, son of Sekander Sheikh, hailed from Habeli Gopalpur area of Faridpur.

Senior ASP of Rab 8 Md Aminur Rahman said being informed a RAB team conducted a raid in Suman’s house around 11pm on Saturday night.

Sensing presence of the law enforcers, Suman tried to flee from his residence but was caught red handed by the team, he added.

RAB recovered 25 petrol bombs, a mobile and three SIM cards in a plastic bag under his bed, the official said.

During the primary interrogation, Suman said he kept the explosives to carry out subversive activities in support of the ongoing political turmoil, the RAB official added.

Suman was handed over to Kotwali police station, he said.

Sayed Mohsinul Haque, officer-in-charge of Kotwali Police Station also confirmed the arrest.
