A bus conductor, who sustained burn injuries in an arson attack in Rupganj, has died while undergoing treatment at Dhaka Medical College Hospital.
Shakil was burnt when blockade supporters torched a bus in front of Bismillah Filling Station at Rupganj on February 25.
Partha Shankar Pal, resident surgeon at DMCH burn unit, told the Dhaka Tribune that Shakil died of his injuries around 3:45pm on Saturday.
The bus helper, Yeasin, was also burnt in the arson attack.
So far, more than 75 people have died and scores have been injured in different parts of the country in violence during the non-stop blockade enforced by the BNP-led alliance.
Of this violence, a large number of arson attacks are being conducted on highways. Hundreds of vehicles, including those belonging to law-enforcers, were attacked and burnt.
The BNP-led 20-party alliance has been enforcing this non-stop nationwide blockade since January 5 in protest against the “confinement” of party Chief Khaleda Zia.
